APA establishes IT subsidiary for development of its international business
Austrian news agency group: Gentics Software spin-off for CMS and eGovernment solutions in the DACH region
APA – Austria Press Agency is expanding its IT portfolio for customers in the DACH region and is taking a broader and more differentiated corporate position to do so. In the future, the Gentics Software division will operate as an independent subsidiary of APA and advance the internationalisation of the APA Group through technology solutions in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
APA’s technology strategy is thus based on two pillars: the new Gentics Software GmbH will provide IT services (content management systems and eGovernment solutions) for the business and political markets, while APA-IT GmbH, which is also owned by the news agency group, will continue on its successful path as an IT provider for media and media-related applications.
„If the media were to establish an independent news agency today – in the age of digitalisation – then, in addition to reliable editorial services, modern IT services would also be a particular fixed component of the agency’s basic mission,“ APA Group CEO Clemens Pig points out.
The two technology companies are also APA’s springboard into international markets. „APA-IT and Gentics Software already deliver smart media and communication technologies ‚Made in Austria‘ to Switzerland and Germany,“ according to Pig.
The future management of Gentics Software GmbH will comprise Philipp Dörre, division manager of Gentics Software, and Doris Pokorny, chief financial officer of APA Group. The spin-off is expected to take place in the first half of 2021 and will be effective retroactively as of January 1, 2021.
